Plants annual, 20-30 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, slender, simple or branched basally, or long naked basally. Leaves alternate; petiole 2-3 cm; leaf blade gray-green abaxially, dark green adaxially, ovate or ovate-oblong, (5-)6-10 × 2-3 cm, membranous, lateral veins 6 or 7 pairs, curved, base acute or cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin crenulate, teeth mucronulate, apex acuminate or acute. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, racemose, (2 or)3- or 4-flowered; peduncles erect, shorter than leaves, 2-5 cm. Pedicels erect, fibrous, ca. 1.5 cm, bracteate at base; bracts recurved, linear-lanceolate, very small, ca. 2 mm. Flowers yellow, Delphinium-shaped, to 3 cm deep, narrow. Lateral sepals 2, linear-oblong, 3-5 mm, 1-veined, apex acute or acuminate. Lower sepal cornute, ca. 2.5 cm deep, narrowed into a curved or incurved spur apically 2-lobed or with a groove; mouth oblique, small, tip acuminate. Upper petal cucullate, orbicular, ca. 7 mm in diam., apex obtuse, abaxial midvein fine; lateral united petals not clawed, short, ca. 1.2 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes oblong; distal lobes dolabriform, longer, apex rounded; auricle inflexed, narrow. Filaments fibrous; anthers obtuse. Ovary fusiform. Capsule linear, 2-2.5 cm. Seeds few, brown, oblong, ca. 3 mm. Fl. Aug-Sep.
