Perennial, climbing or trailing herb (in ours). Leaves pinnately 3-foliolate (in ours); leaflets (in ours) obtuse or emarginate at the apex. Flowers borne in axillary false racemes in groups of 1-3. Bracteoles present. Calyx 4-lobed (the upper pair of teeth completely fused). Standard ovate or round, hairless outside. Vexillary filament free. Ovary with numerous ovules. Pod linear to linear-oblong, flattened.

Galactia is a genus of plants in the legume family (Fabaceae). It belongs to the subfamily Faboideae. They do not have an unambiguous common name, being commonly called milk peas, beach peas or wild peas.
