Plateaux-Quénu (2008) reviews the social biology of this species, which has a paleartic distribution. Lasioglossum laticepes is primitively eusocial. Overwintered females initiate nests in the spring and provision a first brood of offspring. The nest is a burrow into the ground consisting of a tunnel opening onto a gallery with a cluster of brood cells. The females of this brood become workers, but about a quarter of all offspring are males. These workers are about 7% smaller than overwintered females. These workers provision a reproductive brood at the end of the summer which consists of females that will overwinter the subsequent year as well as males who will mate with them but die before winter. This species opens brood cells to check on developing offspring.
