Glyptothorax ater Anganthoibi & Vishwanath 2011

Can be diagnosed from its congeners by the combination of the following characters: rhomboidal thoracic adhesive apparatus with a conspicuous central depression, longitudinally elongated and with a constriction at mid-length; ventral surface of pectoral spine and outer rays of pelvic fins pleated; and two horizontal creamish stripes against dark brown body (Ref. 86532).

Glyptothorax ater is a species of catfish that was first described by Anganthoibi and Vishwanath in 2011. Glyptothorax ater is a species in genus Glyptothorax, family Sisoridae and order Siluriformes. No subspecies are listed in Catalogue of Life.

The species is found in the Kaladan River basin in Mizoram State, India.
