Syncolostemon oritrephes (Wild) D. F. Otieno

Shrubby perennial herb, up to c. 70 cm tall, growing from a woody rootstock. Leaves opposite decussate, closely spaced, sometimes with clusters of young leaves in the upper axils; lamina elliptic, 10-30 mm long, more or less densely covered in silvery-grey hairs; margin entire or subserrate; petiole 1–3 mm long. Inflorescence lax with 6-flowered verticils 1.5–2.5 cm apart; calyx purplish or pink, c. 4 mm long at anthesis, up to 8 mm in fruit. Corolla pink, c. 10 mm long; tube slightly curved, pubescent; lower lip pubescent.
