All specimens but one were caught over soft bottoms some distance off-shore but close to islands (Ref. 4983). The specimens which were examined contained macerated fish remains in their stomachs. Fragments of Haplochromis species, other cichlids and cyprinids were identified in the samples (Ref. 558).
