Scale formula: 7.5-8.5/41-46/(3.5)4.5(5.5); 14 scales around caudal peduncle; 8 dorsal-fin branched rays; 13-15 anal-fin branched rays (Ref. 2940, 81282, 81639). Description: mouth terminal, without barbels; scales with divergent striae; 2 scales between lateral line and pelvic fin base; dorsal fin falciform, originating in advance of anal fin; caudal fin forked (Ref. 81639). D: III,8; A: III,13-15; P: 15-16; V: I,8 (Ref. 81282, 81639). Coloration: silvery, with greenish-grey back in life; sides with 8-10 dark vertical bars, longer on posterior part of body; anal, dorsal and caudal fins tinged with orange-red (Ref. 2940, 81282, 81639).
