Volvariopsis pubescentipes (Peck) Murrill
Agaricus pubescentipes Peck, Ann. Rep. N. Y, State Mus. 29: 39. 1878. Volvaria pubipes Sacc. Syll. Fung. 5: 658. 1887.
Pileus convex, about 1.2-2.5 cm. broad; surface dry, white, clothed with minute, hairy squamules or reflexed fibrils, margin fimbriate; lamellae crowded, free, white, becoming fleshcolored, sometimes minutely serrate or eroded on the edges; spores ellipsoid, usually uninucleate, 6-7 ju; stipe slender, subequal, pubescent, about 2.5 cm. long and 2 mm. thick; volva subappressed, white.
Typb locality: Sandlake, New York. Habitat: On the ground in borders of deciduous woods. Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
