Hesperia columbia is a year-round resident in California and southern Oregon (Scott 1986). Habitats are foothill chaparral and open oak woodland. Host plant is the grass species Koeleria cristata. Eggs are laid on or near the host plant singly. There are two flights, with approximate flight times mainly April 15-May 15 and Sept. 15- Oct. 15 (Scott 1986).
