Hesperia lindseyi is a year-round resident in California and southern Oregon (Scott 1986). Habitats are grassy (often not bunchgrass) open chaparral and oak woodland. Host plants are several species of grasses, specifically: Festuca idahoensis, Danthonia californica, Vulpia megalura. Eggs are laid haphazardly on many different substrates depending on location. Individuals overwinter as fully developed eggs. There is one flight each year with the approximate flight time June 15-July 15 in the northern part of the range and May 15- June 30 in the southern part of their range (Scott 1986).
