This species is distributed from Guinea to Gabon and Condamin (1963b) records a number of specimens collected in both primary and secondary forests in the Nimba region. It should be found in Liberia.

Heteropsis peitho, the forest patroller, is a butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It is found in Guinea, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, western Kenya and north-western Tanzania.[2] The habitat consists of high forests.
