Bathykorus bouilloni Raskoff 2010

A new species of hydromedusae common below 1000 m

Only know from the Arctic (at present); Bathypelagic, concentrated between 1400 and 2000 m, observation beween 800 and 2500 m; Hundreds of Bathykorus bouilloni were observed by ROV; (NB: Re-examination of material from older cruises shows it to be common throughout the Arctic)

clear translucent; tentacles emerge well above the bell margin; 4 (occasionally 5) primary tentacles, with equal number smaller secondary tentacles; 3 stomach pouches per quadent

Details are unknown, but likely holoplanktonic, without a polyp stage
