2010.10.09 Lower Austria, Hollabrunn/ Pulkau (415 m AMSL).Leaves with stipules ("hairy" smaller leaves at the stem of leaves): those stipules are typical for Qu. pubescens and Qu. cerris, but while the former loses them early in spring they stay with Qu. cerris till autumn comes.By this feature Qu. cerris is easily distinguished by Qu. pubescens and other oak species.German name: Zerr-Eiche

This oak is distributed in the east Mediterranean and SW Asia. In Israel there only 7 trees in 1 locality. From there we grew some trees at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens.
