Multi-stemmed shrub or small tree, often with long branches, occurring in coastal forest, high rainfall woodland and forest. Leaves alternate, elliptic to ovate, broadly tapering, up to 12 cm long, light green, shiny and hairless on both surfaces; net-veining conspicuous; margin entire, somewhat wavy. Flowers unisexual on different trees, female flowers solitary, male flowers in small axillary clusters, yellowish-green, scented. Fruit shallowly 2-lobed, somewhat flattened, fleshy, c. 1.2 cm, orange to reddish-brown when ripe.
