West Indian Vanilla is native to Minas Gerais, Cerrado, Amazônia, Amazônia, Pernambuco, Rondônia, Goiás, Tocantins, Pará, Paraíba, Amapá, Maranhao, and Mato Grosso. It has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 16 m.
