Carex mertensii (Mertens' Sedge) is a species of perennial grass in the family sedges. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Alaska, and Canada. They have simple, broad leaves and purple flowers. Individuals can grow to 1.1 m.
