Eichhornia crassipes (Waterhyacinth) is a species of perennial herb in the family Pontederiaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Mato Grosso, Amazônia, Acre (Brazil), Pará, Ceará, Espirito Santo, Mata Atlântica, Roraima, Sergipe, Brazil, Bahia, ParaíBa, Pernambuco, Piauí, Pantanal, Maranhao, Caatinga, Distrito Federal, RondôNia, Mato Grosso Do Sul, SãO Paulo, Rio Grande Do Sul, Paraná, North America, Alagoas, GoiáS, Rio Grande Do Norte, Cerrado, Pampa, Tocantins, Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais, and Rio De Janeiro. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Trigona spinipes, Honey bee, Broad-billed Hummingbird, and Trigona fulviventris.
