l.eaves barely over 3 dm. long; blades glabrous above, densely white-appressed-lepidote l)clow, laxly serrate with spines up to 3 mm. long; scape soon glabrous; inflorescence laxly tripinnate, about 4 dm. long, many-flowered, sparsely tomentulosc; branches scarcely over 1 dm. lonit, bearing about 6 small heads; floral bracts suV)orbicuIar, apiculate, shorter than the sepals, suliglabrous; flowers subsessile, only the pistillate known, 6 mm. long; sepals broadly ovate, acute, 4 mm. long, fcrrugincous-tomentose; petals elliptic, acute, strongly convex, white, free; ovary densely tomcntosclepidote; stigmas sessile.
