They are native to GoiáS, Ceará, Pernambuco, Caatinga, Cerrado, Minas Gerais, Amazônia, Mato Grosso, Alagoas, Maranhao, RondôNia, Mata Atlântica, ParaíBa, Sergipe, Pantanal, Bahia, Pará, Piauí, Roraima, Amapá, Espirito Santo, and Tocantins. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Reddish Hermit, Amazilia tobaci, and Amazilia fimbriata.
