They are native to Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Pernambuco, Pampa, AmazôNia, Paraná, Eastern North America, Distrito Federal, U.S. Virgin Islands, Minas Gerais, The Contiguous United States, Cerrado, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Pará, Amapá, Puerto Rico, Espirito Santo, Roraima, RondôNia, Mata Atlântica, Bahia, Caatinga, Rio De Janeiro, Rio Grande Do Sul, SãO Paulo, GoiáS, and Maranhao. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 1.6 m.
