Oplismenus hirtellus (Basketgrass) is a species of perennial grass in the family true grasses. They are climbers. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Puerto Rico, Paraná, Amazônia, Pará, Caatinga, Roraima, Rio De Janeiro, SãO Paulo, Mato Grosso, Maranhao, U.S. Virgin Islands, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, Ceará, Mata Atlântica, Cerrado, Santa Catarina, Piauí, Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, ParaíBa, Pantanal, GoiáS, The Contiguous United States, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Bahia, Distrito Federal, Rio Grande Do Sul, Mato Grosso Do Sul, and Acre (Brazil). They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 2 m.
