Leersia hexandra (Southern Cutgrass) is a species of perennial grass in the family true grasses. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Rio Grande Do Sul, Paraná, Bahia, Santa Catarina, Cerrado, Pernambuco, Puerto Rico, Amazônia, SãO Paulo, Ceará, Mata Atlântica, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande Do Norte, Maranhao, GoiáS, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Amapá, Pampa, ParaíBa, The Contiguous United States, Pará, Rio De Janeiro, Caatinga, Sergipe, Mato Grosso, Pantanal, and Eastern North America. Flowers are visited by Lipotriches bigibba.
