Family: Euphorbiaceae. Distribution: Occassional along shadymoist areas in hills.Limited to Peninsular India. Photographed at Narasimha konda . This is a female flower.Evergreen much branched shrubs or small trees of 2-3 mts tall. Leaves alternate, 6-10x2-5cm elliptic -ovate or lanceolate,acute at both ends. Flowers 1.5-2cm across, white, unisexual, male in axillary cymes, female solitary leaf opposed, Calyx in female large 5, oblong imbricate lobes, enlarged and spreading in fruit. Petals 5, erect,imbricate.Stamens 10-20 in 2 rows in males, Ovary 3 celled, ovules 1 in each cell, styles 3 connate at the base, stigmas bifid. Fruit 3 valved hispid, short lobed capsule.
