Mohoidae (Hawaiian Honeyeaters)Oahu, unspecified locationFormerly placed in the Meliphagidae (Honeyeaters), the newly formed Mohoidae is a bird family endemic to the Hawaiian Islands, but sadly all the members are now extinct. The late Alan C. Ziegler (1926-2003), zoologist, identified these few priceless bones for me in 1992 with his notes. Now identified as Chaetoptila angustipluma.Family members include:Chaetoptila angustipluma, Kioea (historically Hawaii Island; subfossil Oahu, Maui, and possibly Molokai), extinct
