In shallow rain pool dozens of breeding Rough-skinned Newts seen. One adult male Red-legged, and over 5-dozen R. aurora egg clusters observed. Oddly, the eggs appeared to have been deposited in a pool that will be dry in couple months. The area was recently clear cut by lumber Company and only tree stumps and planted seedlings surrounded the area. Newts observed feeding of R. aurora eggs.
Black dorsal and lower eyelids; entire ventral orange. Dark top and orange below contrast sharply. Teeth in roof of mouth in V-shaped arrangement. Four examined: SVL 57 mm (2 in.), TL 127 mm (5 in.); SVL 51 mm (2 in.), TL 114 mm (4 in.); SVL 64 mm (5 in.), TL 146 mm (2 in.); SVL 57 mm (2 in.), TL 114 mm (4 in.).
