The wingspan is 16–20 mm. The forewings are yellowish-grey with dark scales. Adults have been recorded from April to August.

Hellinsia aruna is een vlinder uit de familie van de vedermotten (Pterophoridae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1991 door Arenberger.
