The Formosan golden tube-nosed bat (Harpiola isodon) is native to the high-altitude regions of Taiwan.
It was described as a new species in 2006. The holotype had been collected in Yuli Wildlife Refuge in Zhuoxi, Taiwan in 1998. Its species name "isodon" means "equal-toothed". The researchers who described the species chose this name because of the almost-equal basal area of the canines, first premolars, and second premolars.[2]
It is a medium-sized tube-nosed bat, with an average forearm length of 31–36 mm (1.2–1.4 in). Its guard hairs have shiny, golden tips, inspiring its common name. Its dorsal fur is very long, while the ventral fur is shorter. Its fur texture is woolly. Individual hairs are dark brown at their bases, bright yellow in the middle, and dark brown again at their tips. Its uropatagium is densely furred both above and below. Its ears are 12.5–13 mm (0.49–0.51 in) long; its tragi are 6.5–8 mm (0.26–0.31 in) long.[2]
It has been documented in the mountainous regions of Taiwan, from elevations of 1,000–2,400 m (3,300–7,900 ft) above sea level.[2] In 2006, it was published that the species had been documented in Vietnam for the first time.[3]
It is currently assessed as least concern by the IUCN.[1]

Murina isodon (Kuo & al., 2006) è un pipistrello della famiglia dei Vespertilionidi diffuso in Vietnam e a Taiwan.[1]
Pipistrello di piccole dimensioni, con la lunghezza dell'avambraccio tra 31 e 37,3 mm e la lunghezza delle orecchie tra 12,5 e 15 mm.[2]
La pelliccia è molto lunga, lanosa e si estende sugli avambracci, gli arti inferiori e i piedi. Le parti dorsali sono bruno-dorate, con la base dei peli scura, mentre le parti ventrali sono marroni chiare con la base scura e cosparse di peli bianco-grigiastri lungo il petto e l'addome. Le narici sono tubulari e prominenti. Le orecchie sono rotonde e con un profondo incavo a circa due terzi del bordo posteriore. Il trago è lungo più della metà del padiglione auricolare, largo alla base, affusolato, piegato all'indietro verso l'estremità e con una dentellatura alla base del bordo posteriore. Le ali sono attaccate posteriormente alla base del primo dito del piede. L'estremità della lunga coda si estende leggermente oltre l'ampio uropatagio, il quale è densamente ricoperto di peli grigio-argentati su entrambe le superfici. Il cariotipo è 2n=44 FN=50.
Si rifugia probabilmente in tunnel.
Si nutre di insetti.
Una femmina con un feto è stata catturata nel mese di maggio.
Questa specie è conosciuta nelle zone montane dell'isola di Taiwan, sui monti Ngoc Linh, e nel Parco nazionale di Hoang Lien, nel Vietnam settentrionale e centrale[3].
Vive nelle foreste di conifere e a foglia larga tra 1.000 e 2.400 metri di altitudine.
La IUCN Red List, considerato che questa specie è stata descritta recentemente e ci sono ancora poche informazioni circa il suo areale, lo stato della popolazione, le minacce e i requisiti ecologici, classifica M.isodon come specie con dati insufficienti (DD).[1]

Harpiola isodon is een vleermuis uit het geslacht Harpiola die voorkomt in de bergen van Taiwan, van 1000 tot 2400 m hoogte. Er zijn 11 exemplaren bekend. Het is pas de tweede soort van het zeldzame geslacht Harpiola; de andere soort, H. grisea, is slechts bekend van enkele exemplaren uit India. De naam isodon, Latijn voor "gelijkgetand", verwijst naar het feit dat de wortels van de hoektanden en de eerste en tweede valse kiezen vrijwel op dezelfde hoogte zitten, in tegenstelling tot de soorten van het verwante geslacht Murina, waar er een verschil in hoogte is.[2]
Deze middelgrote soort heeft een goudbruine rugvacht en een bruine buikvacht. In de rugvacht vallen de dikkere, grotere guard hairs op. Het uropatagium, de vlieghuid tussen staart en achterbenen, is dicht behaard. De voorarmlengte bedraagt 31,00 tot 35,60 mm, de schedellengte 14,76 tot 16,48 mm.[2]

Вирубка лісів є потенційною загрозою для цього виду. Присутній на природоохоронних територіях.
