Pileus thin, sub translucent, convex to plane or slightly depressed, solitary or gregarious, 2-5 cm. broad; surface ochraceous to yellowish-red and finely and densely tomentose when young, becoming bay or chestnut and glabrous, rugose on the disk, margin concolorous, striate, not inflexed on drying: lamellae adnate with a short tooth, of medium width, crowded, interveined, subventricose, flavous: spores elUpsoid, smooth hyaline, 5-7 X 3-4 ju: stipe equal, flavous or ferruginous to brownish, densely and persistently velvety-tomentose its entire length,
4r-7 cm. or more long, 2-4 mm. thick.
Type locality: Bethlehem, Pa.
Habitat: On dead wood.
