Taproot thick, tuber-like. Climbing plant 50-110 cm. Leaves paripinnate with tendril, 10-20 cm x 2-3 cm. Flowering shoots axillary. Flowers bright pink, large, 4 cm diam., in raceme. V - mid spring to early autumn, in St. Petersburg April to September. Fl - June-July. Fr - July-August. P - by seed. Comes into flower the year after sowing. Plant in full sun on well-drained soil. Can grow many years without transplanting. Cultivated since 1910 in St. Petersburg Botanical Garden. Z 4. Poorly known in horticulture. New.
