Tetrapteris reticulata

Tetrapteris reticulata Small, sp. now Leaf-blades lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, 7-12 cm. long, somewhat acuminate, glabrous or nearly so, dull on both sides, paler beneath than above, finely reticulate, especially beneath, acute or obtuse at the base, short-petioled, the petiolar glands obsolete ; inflorescence-branches finely and rather sparingly pubescent ; sepals oblong, about 3 mm. long, the glands nearly as long as the sepal-body ; petals yellow, the larger ones 5-6 mm. long, the blades oblong to oval, denticulate; free portions of the filaments subulate, longer than the tube ; samaras 2.5-3 cm. long, the body sparingly pubescent, with a wing-like somewhat crested keel, the wings glabrous or nearly so, the upper ones linear to spatulate, the lower wings slightly smaller than the upper.
Type collected in the vicinity of Cana, Panama, Williams 763 (herb. N. Y. Bot. Gard.). Distribution : Known only from the type locality.
