Leaves spreading, 2-4.5 cm. long, the blades ovate, varying to oblong-ovate or orbicular-ovate, mainly green, nearly glabrous except the sparingly ciliolate margins, sinuatecrenate or merely undulate, rather abruptly narrowed into relatively slender petiole-like bases ; scapes erect, usually solitary, 7-16 cm. tall, glandular-pubescent or somewhat woolly, especially below the middle, green ; cymules aggregated into a terminal head, or in heads terminating the branches of the inflorescence ; sepals oblong to ovate, 1.5-2 mm. long, obtuse, 3-veined, eciliate ; petals white, oval to obovate, 2.5-3 mm. long, narrowed into broad claw-like bases ; filaments subulate ; follicles about 3 mm. high, often purplish, the stout tips ascending or somewhat spreading.
Type locality : Northeastern Texas. Distribution : Arkansas and Texas.
