Vochya hondurensis (Sprague) Standley
Vochisia hondurensis Sprague, Kew Bull. 1922: 183. 1922.
Tree, 15-25 meters high, with dense, rounded or depressed crown, the wood white, weak, the trunk slender, much exceeding the crown, smooth and grayish; branchlets glabrous, costateangulate; stipules subulate, 2-3 mm. long, tomentulose, deciduous; leaves 3-4-verticillate, the petioles slender, 1.2-2.5 cm. long, glabrous; leaf-blades oblong or oblanceolate-oblong, 8-14 cm. long, 2.5-5 cm. wide, rounded or very obtuse at apex and emarginate, acute or acuminate at base, coriaceous, glabrous, the venation inconspicuous above, the costa and lateral nerves prominent beneath, the latter 10-13 pairs; flowers yellow, the thyrses terminal and axillary, 6-20 cm. long, the rachis angulate and puberulous, the cymes 1-5-flowered, the pedicels 3-8 mm. long; buds linear, obtuse, 2 mm. thick; smaller sepals ovate-rounded, 1-2 mm. long, ciliate, the blade of the posterior one 15 mm. long, the spur half as long, stout; petals obovate, about 5 mm. long, ciliolate; anther glabrous, 6-10 mm. long, the filament half as long; ovary glabrous, the style very long and slender.
Type locality: Belize, British Honduras.
Distribution: British Honduras, eastern Guatemala, Honduras, and Atlantic slope of Costa

Vochisia guatemalensis Donn. Smith, Bot. Gaz. 12: 131. 1887.
Large tree, the branchlets glabrous, costate-angulate; stipules subulate, 3 mm. long, persistent; leaves 3-4-verticillate, or the uppermost opposite; petioles slender, glabrous, 2-3 cm. long; leaf-blades oblong-lanceolate, 9-15 cm. long, 2.5-5.5 cm. wide, somewhat abruptly acuminate, acute or acuminate at base, coriaceous, glabrous; flowers yellow, the thyrses terminal and axillary, forming large leafy panicles, 10-18 cm. long, the rachis angulate, sparsely puberulous, the cymes 3-4-flowered; buds linear, 3 mm. or less in diameter, acute; smaller sepals oblong-obovate, 1-2 mm. long, ciliolate, the blade of the posterior one 15-20 mm. long, the spur half as long, slender; petals oblong-obovate, the intermediate one half as long as the calyx and 4 mm. wide, the others slightly shorter and much narrower; anther glabrous, 10 mm. long, the filament shorter; style very slender; ovary oblong, glabrous.
Type locality: Mountain forests, Pansamala, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, at 1140 meters. Distribution: Eastern Guatemala.
