Medetera is a large genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.[9][10] It includes about 350 species worldwide.[11] The adults are commonly found resting on vertical surfaces such as tree trunks. The larvae are predators of bark beetle larvae.[2][12][13]

A 2011 phylogenetic analysis of Medetera and related genera found that Medetera is paraphyletic with respect to Dolichophorus, and that Thrypticus is a sister taxon to Medetera + Dolichophorus.[14]

Species

Taxonomy follows Bickel (1985, 1987),[2][12] though some of the species groups are treated as separate genera by other authors.[15]

Medetera (лат.) — род мух-зеленушек из семейства Dolichopodidae (отряд Двукрылые). Иногда называют мухами-короедницами. Обитают повсеместно[1].

Описание

Мелкие (1,5—5 мм), обычно матово-серые, редко блестящие мухи. Свойственные самцам зеленушек украшения у самцов Medetera встречаются редко[2].

Экология

Дендрофильные мухи-короедницы Medetera могут также питаться тлями, трипсами и клещами на зерновых, овощных, плодовых и других культурах, вместе с другими энтомофагами регулируя развитие и размножение опасных вредителей, особенно при поливном земледелии[3].

Систематика

Типовой род подсемейства Medeterinae. Содержит 328 видов[1]. Род впервые выделил в 1819 году российский естествоиспытатель Фишер фон Вальдгейм, Григорий Иванович. Фишер фон Вальдгейм широко известен единственным в зоологии примером описания нового рода в программе-приглашении на заседание научного собрания (Московского Императорского общества испытателей природы). Это как раз и были мухи Medetera из семейства Dolichopodidae.
