Description: A posh relative of the common border lavatera from the South of France. It needs much drier, milder conditions but doesn't grow so big. Ideal though for dry soils, chalk and seafronts. The Melianthus around it is chlorotic because it would prefer a richer soil. The fig behind it on the other hand produced the best figs I've had in the UK, if the wasps left them alone long enough.
