Polygala puberula ovalis Rob. & Greenm. Proc. Am. Acad. 29: 382. 1894. Not P. oralis E. Meyer, 1843.
Perennial, scarcely suffrutescent, few-stemmed, 3-7 cm. high, appressed-puberulous; leaves few, elliptic or oval-oblong, 1.3-2.3 cm. long, 8-16 mm. wide, rounded or obtuse, thin, purplish beneath, densely appressed-puberulous; racemes few-flowered; sepals lanceolate, subpetaloid, magenta-tinted; wings oblong, 3.8 mm. long, obtuse, magenta, sparsely incurvedpilosulous; keel yellowish, 3 mm. long; capsule orbicular, incurved-pilosulous, 5 mm. long; aril minute, 0.5 mm. long, with obsolescent scarious margin and large pubescent umbo.
Type locality: Guadalajara. Jalisco. Distribution: Coahuila and Jalisco.
