Ceropegia leachiana Bruyns

leachii: named after Larry Leach (1909-1996), English businessman, who came to Rhodesia in 1938 and, as an amateur botanist, became a major expert on succulent genera, particularly Euphorbia.

Succulent perennial with procumbent stems up to 30 cm long or sometimes long, forming entangled mats up to 2 sq. m. Stems pale green to reddish, sometines ascending at the tips, tapering to a fine point when growing. Inflorescences 1-6-flowered. Flowers developing in succession. Corolla 20-25 mm in diameter, pale pinkish-green on the papillate outside with 2-5 raised veins running down each lobe; inside cream with broken or continuous concentric marroon lines and a solid marron patch at the base of the tube. Tube c. 6 mm long,bowl-shaped, slightly pentagonal, without thickening at the mouth; lobes up to 6 mm long, broadly 3-angular, tapering to a fine point. Corona c. 3.5 mm tall, dark marroon except for the yellow inner lobes.
