Stems 3-14.5 cm. tall, loosely tufted, glabrous or nearly so; leaf-blades suborbicular or reniform in outline, 6-17 mm. wide, thin, mainly 5-lobed, those of the stem-leaves shallowly lobed or entire, those of the basal and lower cauline long-petioled, sometimes 7lobed; hypanthium 3-4.5 mm. long at maturity; sepals ovate, 1.5-2 mm. long, obtuse; petals cuneate to oblong, 3-7 mm. long, abruptly clawed at the base ; follicles 6-7.5 mm. long.
Type locality : Rocky Mountains, Colorado. Distribution : Montana to Wyoming, Colorado and Utah.
