Amblyscirtes nereus is resident in southern Arizona and New Mexico ranging south into Texas, with separate populations in southern New Mexico and eastern Texas (Scott 1986). Habitats are upper Sonoran zone grassy open-woodland areas, often at springs. There are multiple flights each year with the approximate flight time late March - Sept. 30 (Scott 1986).
