Each central capsule surrounded by a Latticed shell, smooth-surfaced, lying at considerable distance from one another, and varying in shape among species from spherical, crumpled, polygonal or in the form of a thin net of large and small polygonal meshes.

Collosphaera is a radiolarian genus in the family Collosphaeridae.[1] The genus contains bioluminescent species.[2][3] It is a genus of colonial radiolarians (as opposed to solitary).[4]
