Odax cyanoallix és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels odàcids.[4]
Descripció
- Pot arribar a fer 27 cm de llargària màxima.[5][6]
Reproducció
És hermafrodita i les femelles assoleixen la maduresa sexual en arribar als 200 mm de longitud.[7]
Alimentació
Els adults són herbívors (mengen Ecklonia radiata, Landsburgia quercifolia i Sargassum johnsonii, entre d'altres) mentre que els juvenils són probablement omnívors.[8][9]
Hàbitat
És un peix marí, demersal i de clima subtropical (33°S-35°S) que viu fins als 16 m de fondària.[5]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba al Pacífic sud-occidental: Three Kings Islands, a l'extrem septentrional de Nova Zelanda.[5][10][11][12]
Observacions
És inofensiu per als humans.[5]

The bluefinned butterfish (Odax cyanoallix) a species of marine ray-finned fish, a weed whiting from the family Odacidae, which is found only around Three Kings Islands about 80 km north of New Zealand.[2] It is found in shallow reef areas where brown seaweed is abundant.[3] This species can reach a length of 27 centimetres (11 in) SL. It is of minor importance to local commercial fisheries.[2] Isolated individuals have been recorded elsewhere around the northern North Island.[1]
