Cirrhilabrus beauperryi Allen, Drew & Barber 2008

Beau's wrasse, Cirrhilabrus beauperryi, is a species of wrasse native to the western Pacific Ocean. This species can reach a standard length of 8.5 cm (3.3 in). It can be found at depths from 5 to 32 m (16 to 105 ft), most often between 6 and 12 m (20 and 39 ft).^[2] Its coloration varies, ranging from light blue to pink. It can be found in the aquarium trade.^[1]

Etymology

The specific name honours Beau Perry, the son of Claire and Noel Perry who support Conservation International,^[2]

Cirrhilabrus beauperryi Allen, Drew & Barber, 2008 è un pesce d'acqua salata appartenente alla famiglia Labridae^[2].

Distribuzione e habitat

Proviene dalle barriere coralline dell'oceano Pacifico; proviene dalle Isole Salomone e dalla Nuova Guinea^[3]. Nuota tra i 5 e i 30 m di profondità in zone con corrente moderatamente forte, ricche di coralli^[1].

Descrizione

Presenta un corpo abbastanza allungato, compresso lateralmente e con la testa non particolarmente appuntita. La pinna caudale ha il margine arrotondato. La lunghezza massima registrata è i 8,5 cm^[3].

La livrea varia durante la vita del pesce: i giovani sono rossastri con una macchia nera sul peduncolo caudale^[3], mentre negli adulti il colore prevalente è il blu-violaceo.

Nei maschi adulti il ventre è azzurro intenso, il dorso blu o viola, spesso con sfumature marroni-rosate, gli occhi sono rosa od arancioni. La pinna dorsale è bassa e lunga, con fasce di colori diversi come blu, giallo e viola^[3]. La pinna anale è più corta, blu alla base e per il resto rosa o giallastra. Le pinne pelviche sono azzurre, molto allungate, e formano quasi dei filamenti^[3].

Comportamento

Nuota sia solitario che in banchi di pochi esemplari^[3].

Conservazione

Viene classificato come "a rischio minimo" (LC) dalla lista rossa IUCN perché non viene catturato frequentemente per essere allevato negli acquari ed è diffuso in alcune aree marine protette^[1].

Cirrhilabrus beauperryi is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van lipvissen (Labridae).^[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 2008 door Allen, Drew & Barber.

De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2009.^[1]

博氏絲隆頭魚，又稱博氏絲鰭鸚鯛，為輻鰭魚綱鱸形目隆頭魚亞目隆頭魚科的其中一種，分布於西太平洋區的巴布亞紐幾內亞及所羅門群島海域，棲息深度6-12公尺，體長可達8.5公分，棲息在珊瑚礁區，生活習性不明。
