És un peix d'aigües profundes que viu fins als 2500 m de fondària.^[9]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba des de les Açores^[10][11] i Madeira fins al Cap de Bona Esperança (Sud-àfrica)^[12][13] i des d'Àfrica fins al Mar de la Xina Meridional, Austràlia^[14][15] i Nova Zelanda.^[16][17][6]

Odontomacrurus murrayi, the roundhead grenadier, is a bathypelagic or mesopelagic species of rattail. The fish is widespread in the mid-waters of the eastern Atlantic Ocean from north of the Azores to South Africa. It also occurs in the Indian Ocean and in the southwest Pacific. This species grows to a length of 64 centimetres (25 in) TL. The remains of fish have been sampled from the stomach contents of specimens. This species is the only member of its genus.

Odontomacrurus murrayi is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van rattenstaarten (Macrouridae).^[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1939 door Norman.

默氏厲牙長尾鱈，為輻鰭魚綱鱈形目鼠尾鱈科的其中一種，分布於東大西洋亞速群島至南非好望角、印度西太平洋區，從東非至澳洲、紐西蘭海域，屬深海底棲性魚類，深度0-2500公尺，體長可達64公分，棲息在大陸坡底層水域，生活習性不明。
