DISTRIBUTION: Propeleda longicaudata is a characteristic, widely distributed antarctic bivalve. Around the continent it has been recorded from 90°E to 145ºE, from the Ross Sea, the Bellingshausen Sea, and the Antarctic Peninsula extending to the South Shetlands, South Orkneys and South Georgia. Throughout its range it has been collected in 64-1180 m, and in the Ross Sea in 64-930 m.
REMARKS: A single slightly damaged specimen from Eltanin Stn 2143, off the Antipodes Islands in 2010-2100 m, is indistinguishable from specimens from the Ross Sea. If further material sustains this identification, this represents a considerable extension of the known range.”

Propeleda longicaudata is een tweekleppigensoort uit de familie van de Nuculanidae.[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1912 door Thiele.
