Pteruthius annamensis Robinson & Kloss 1919

The Dalat shrike-babbler (Pteruthius aeralatus annamensis) is a bird subspecies traditionally considered an aberrant Old World babbler and placed in the family Timaliidae. But as it seems, it belongs to an Asian offshoot of the American vireos and may well belong in the Vireonidae. Indeed, since long it was noted that their habits resemble those of vireos, but this was believed to be the result of convergent evolution.

It is endemic to southern Vietnam on the Da Lat Plateau. It is considered a subspecies of the white-browed shrike-babbler.

El timalí-alcaudón vietnamita o de Dalat (Pteruthius annamensis),^[2]​ es una especie de ave paseriforme, perteneciente al género Pteruthius de la familia Vireonidae. Es endémico de Vietnam.

Distribución y hábitat

Se encuentra únicamente en la meseta de Langbian en el sur de Vietnam.^[2]​

Su hábitat preferencial son las selvas húmedas montanas tropicales y subtropicales.^[1]​

Taxonomía

El género Pteruthius estuvo tradicionalmente colocado en la familia Timaliidae hasta que un estudio de análisis moleculares de ADN en 2007 encontró que no tenía ninguna afinidad con esa familia y que estarían mejor colocadas en la familia Vireonidae, que hasta entonces se pensó estaba restringida al Nuevo Mundo, y donde lo sitúan ahora las principales clasificaciones.^[3]​^[4]​

Es monotípica. La presente especie, junto a Pteruthius aeralatus y P. ripleyi, antes incluidas en Pteruthius flaviscapis como subespecies, fueron separadas con base en las diferencias establecidas por los estudios filogenéticos y en las variaciones vocales.^[5]​

De dalatklauwiertimalia (Pteruthius annamensis ) is een soort endemische zangvogel uit het geslacht Pteruthius en de familie vireo's (Vireonidae). Het is geen timalia maar een verwant van zangvogels die voornamelijk in de Nieuwe Wereld voorkomen.

Taxonomie

Vaak wordt deze klauwiertimalia samen met de Blyths klauwiertimalia (P. aeralatus) en de himalajaklauwiertimalia (Pteruthius ripleyi) als ondersoort van de witbrauwklauwiertimalia beschouwd.

Verspreiding en leefgebied

De dalatklauwiertimalia is een vogel van half open altijd groenblijvende heuvellandbossen. De vogel komt alleen voor op de hooglanden van Đà Lạt in Vietnam.

Status

BirdLife International beschouwt de soort als ondersoort van de witbrauwklauwiertimalia en die heeft de status niet bedreigd op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN.

Dalatbrokvireo^[1] (Pteruthius annamensis) är en fågel i familjen vireor inom ordningen tättingar.^[2] Den förekommer enbart i södra Vietnam, på Langbianplatån.^[2] Tidigare betraktades den som en del av P. flaviscapis. IUCN gör det fortfarande, varför den inte placeras i någon hotkategori.
