Crypturellus brevirostris (Pelzeln 1863)

Crypturellus brevirostris,^[3] tamién denomináu tinamú ferrial y inambú castañu,^[4] ye una especie d'ave tinamiforme de la familia Tinamidae que vive nes rexones tropicales de Suramérica.^[5]

Etimoloxía

El términu Crypturellus ta formáu por dos pallabres griegues y una partícula llatina. Kryptos significa «escondíu, cubiertu», oura sigunifica «cola», y la partícula ellus implica diminutivu. Por ello Crypturellus significa «rabín escondíu».^[6] Ente que brevirostris ta formáu por dos términos llatinos que signifiquen «de picu curtiu».

Descripción

El tinamú aferruñáu mide de 27 a 29 cm de llargu. Los sos partes cimeros y lladrales son pardu acolorataes llistaes en negru, el so gargüelu ye blanca y el so pechu ye de color acoloratáu intensu, ente que'l so banduyu ye blancu. El so pileu ye de color castañu y les sos pates son de color gris amarellentáu.

Distribución y hábitat

Atópase nos montes de los banzaos y selves tropicales de rexones baxes, hasta los 500 m d'altitú.^[7] Esta especie ye orixinaria del norte de Brasil, la Guayana francesa y l'este de Colombia y Perú.^[5]

Comportamientu

Como otros tinamús, el tinamú aferruñáu aliméntase principalmente de frutos qu'atopa nel suelu o nos parrotales de baxu altor. Amás aliméntase de pequeñes cantidaes d'invertebraos, brotos de flores, fueyes tienres, granes y raigaños.

Los machos guaren los güevos que pueden venir de hasta cuatro femes distintes, y van encargase de curiar de los pollos hasta que puedan valise por sigo mesmos, xeneralmente a los dos o tres selmanes. Los sos niales alcontrar nel suelu ente les carbes trupes o ente los marayos de raigaños esteriores.^[8]

The rusty tinamou or short-billed tinamou (Crypturellus brevirostris) is a type of tinamou commonly found in swamp forest in tropical regions of South America.^[3]

Taxonomy

The rusty tinamou is a monotypic species.^[3] All tinamou are from the family Tinamidae, and in the larger scheme are also ratites. Unlike other ratites, tinamous can fly, although in general, they are not strong fliers. All ratites evolved from prehistoric flying birds, and tinamous are the closest living relative of these birds.^[4]

Etymology

Crypturellus is formed from three Latin or Greek words. kruptos meaning covered or hidden, oura meaning tail, and ellus meaning diminutive. Therefore, Crypturellus means small hidden tail.^[5]

Range and habitat

It is found in tropical swamp forests and lowland forests, up to 500 m (1,600 ft) altitude.^[6] This species is native to northeastern and northwestern Brazil, French Guiana, and eastern Peru in South America.^[3]

Description

The rusty tinamou is 27 to 29 cm (10.6–11.4 in) in length. Its upper parts are rufous boldly barred with black, its throat is white, its breast is bright rufous, its belly is white, and its flanks are barred black. Its crown is chestnut in color with legs that are yellowish-grey.

Behavior

Like other tinamous, the rusty tinamou eats fruit off the ground or low-lying bushes. They also eat small amounts of invertebrates, flower buds, tender leaves, seeds, and roots. The male incubates the eggs which may come from as many as 4 different females, and then will raise them until they are ready to be on their own, usually 2–3 weeks. The nest is located on the ground in dense brush or between raised root buttresses.^[4]

Etimologio

Comportamiento

Como otros tinamús, el tinamú herrumbroso se alimenta principalmente de frutos que encuentra en el suelo o en los arbustos de baja altura. Además se alimenta de pequeñas cantidades de invertebrados, capullos de flores, hojas tiernas, semillas y raíces.

Los machos incuban los huevos que pueden proceder de hasta cuatro hembras distintas, y se encargarán de cuidar de los pollos hasta que puedan valerse por sí mismos, generalmente a las dos o tres semanas. Sus nidos se localizan en el suelo entre los matorrales densos o entre las marañas de raíces exteriores.^[8]​

Hrđavi tinamu (lat. Crypturellus brevirostris) je vrsta ptice iz roda Crypturellus iz reda tinamuovki.

Živi u močvarnim šumama tropskih regija Južne Amerike. Udomaćen je u sjeveroistočnom i sjeverozapadnom Brazilu, Francuskoj Gvajani i istočnom Peruu.

Dug je oko 27-29 centimetara. Gornji dijelovi su riđi, s štraftastom crnom. Grlo je bijelo, a prsa su svjetlo-riđa. Trbuh je bijel, a bokovi su štraftasto-crni. Noge su žućkasto-sive.

Hrani se plodovima s tla ili niskih grmova. Također se hrani i malom količinom biljnih dijelova i manjih beskralježnjaka. Mužjak inkubira jaja koja mogu biti od čak četiri različite ženke. Inkubacija obično traje 2-3 tjedna.

Beschrijving

De rosse tinamoe kan 27 tot 29 cm groot worden. De rug is bruin met zwarte markeringen, de keel en buik wit en de vleugels zijn zwart gestreept. De kruin is kastanjebruin, de poten geel of grijs.

Voedsel

De rosse tinamoe eet vooral vruchten van de grond of lage struiken, maar ook bloemen, bladeren, zaden, wortels en ongewervelden.

Voortplanting

Het mannetje paart met ongeveer vier vrouwtjes, die de eieren in een nest in dicht struikgewas leggen. Het mannetje broedt de eieren uit en voedt de jongen op. Na 2-3 weken verlaten de jongen hun vader.

Voorkomen

De soort komt voor in het noordwesten en westen van het Amazoneregenwoud.^[3]

Beschermingsstatus

Op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN heeft de soort de status veilig.
