Oxynoemacheilus cyri (Berg 1910)

Oxynoemacheilus cyri és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels balitòrids i a l'ordre dels cipriniformes.^[4][5]

Etimologia

L'epítet cyri fa referència al seu lloc d'origen: el riu Kura (Cyrus en llatí) a Turquia.^[6]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica

És un peix d'aigua dolça, demersal i de clima subtropical,^[7] el qual viu a Àsia: és un endemisme dels rierols d'alta muntanya i de corrent moderadament ràpid^[8] de la conca del curs superior del riu Kura^[9][10] (conca de la mar Càspia) a Turquia.^{[11][12][13][3]}

Observacions

És inofensiu per als humans,^[7] el seu índex de vulnerabilitat és baix (18 de 100)^[14] i no pateix d'amenaces per a la seua supervivència.^[8]

Oxynoemacheilus cyri, the Göle loach or banded Kura loach, is a species of stone loach from the genus Oxynoemacheilus. It is endemic to the Kura drainage in northern Turkey where it is currently locally abundant. This species occurs in high mountain streams with fast flowing currents.^[1] The specific name derives from the classical name for the Kura, "Cyrus".^[3]

Denne smerlingen ble opprinnelig beskrevet som en underart av Oxynoemacheilus tigris. Den lever i fjellbekker i øvre del av nedslagsfeltet til elva Kura i Tyrkia.
