Gymnosphaerid, with an ovoid cell body ('head') from which radiate axopodia. The head attaches to the substrate by a contractile stalk, which arises from an extensive amoeboid and multinucleated base. Surface naked. The axoplast occupies the centre of the head. One marine species A. contractilis Febvre-Chevalier, 1980.
