Beameria wheeleri is known from the Sonoran Desert of southern New Mexico, southeastern Arizona, and northern Mexico. All species of Beameria are associated with grasses and the distribution of B. wheeleri in particular is dependent on the presence of grasses of the genus Sporobolus, including S, wrightii and S. airoides. (Sanborn & Phillips 2013).
