Herbs perennial. Stems to 60 cm or more, erect, subglabrous, angles pilose, branched. Petiole (1-)3.5-10 cm; leaf blade circular-ovate to broadly ovate, (3.2-)5.5-14 × (2-)4-10 cm, thin papery, adaxially sparsely pilose, densely puberulent on veins, abaxially sparsely red glandular, sparsely pilose on veins, base shallowly cordate to ± cuneate, margin crenate to crenate-dentate, apex acute to short acuminate, lateral veins 4- or 5-paired. Panicles terminal and axillary, 8.5-20 × 5.5-6 cm, glandular puberulent; cymes pedunculate, 3-11-flowered; lower floral leaves subsessile, upper floral leaves bractlike, ovate, 1-3 mm. Pedicel 3-5(-7) mm. Calyx broadly campanulate, ca. 3.5 × to 5 mm, glandular pubescent, obviously 2-lipped; teeth broadly triangular, upper 3 ca. 1.5 mm, lower 2 ca. 1 mm, apex acute; fruiting calyx dilated to ca. 6.5 × 6 mm. Corolla whitish, pale yellow, or yellow, tip tinged reddish purple, ca. 9 mm; tube ca. 5 mm, subglabrous; upper lip ca. 1.5 mm, lower lip ca. 4 mm. Stamens and style long exserted. Nutlets yellow, ovoid, ca. 1.5 × 1.1 mm, glabrous. Fl. Jul-Oct, fr. Sep-Oct.
