Es troba a la Xina (llac Ulungur i riu Ulungur),[3] Mongòlia i els rius que desguassen a l'Oceà Àrtic des del riu Obi fins al riu Kolimà.[4][5]

The complete mitochondrial genome of Leuciscus baicalensis has a mostly conserved structural organization and it is 16,606 bp in size. It consisted of 37 genes (13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and 2 ribosomal RNA genes), and 2 main non-coding regions (the control region and the origin of the light strand replication).[3]

Leuciscus baicalensis is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de eigenlijke karpers (Cyprinidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1874 door Dybowski.
